Welcome to our Beaver Colony

'We're all eager Beavers'

Beaver Scouts are the youngest members of the Group and meet as a Colony. The Beaver Colony caters for youngsters from 6 to 8 years of age. The Group currently runs two Beaver Colonies to cater for the demand. Both Colonies meet at the Scout Headquarters and have on average 24 members each. The Colonies accepts both male and female members.

The Beaver Scout Uniform is a distinctive turquoise sweatshirt worn with the Group knecker. Progressive Training Awards and Proficiency Badges are worn on the uniform.

The philosophy underpinning the programme is that every Beaver Scout should participate in a Balanced Programme over a period of time. The emphasis has shifted from a badge and award driven culture to one that ensures that all young people experience a quality programme covering a wide range of subjects. To help, the Balanced Programme is divided into a number of Programme Zones, methods and underlying ways of working.

Beaver Scouting provides the first opportunity for young people to join the exciting world of Scouting. All Members are enthusiastic, energetic and full of get up and go; that includes the Leaders!
