Welcome to our Explorer Unit

'Exploring the further reaches of Scouting'

Explorers are the older teenagers and meet as a sub division of a District based Unit. Explorers are teenagers from 14 to 18 years of age. The Unit meets on a Wednesday night from 7.45pm until 9.30pm at the Scout HQ. It is a mixed membership Unit accepting both male and female members.

To maintain a sense of identity in this large District Unit the Wellington Provision refers to itself as the Warlocks Explorer Scout Provision (ESP).

The provision replaces the previous Warlocks Venture Scout Unit which existed until the demise of Venture Scouting in a National Scouting reorganisation.

Please feel free to find out more about The Unit. The Wellington based provision run their own challenging programme along side the main District Explorer programme. They take part in many exciting activities and you can read about some of them or view them in action in their photo gallery.

What are Explorers?

Explorers provides an opportunity for the older teenagers to organise and participate in more adventurous and challenging activities. It is a District based section formed from the older members from Groups all over a District.

Ten Tors 2006

The Explorers Scouts successfully completed the Army's prestigious Annual Ten Tors Challenge held over the weekend of 12-14th May 2006. The team impressively completed eight of their ten tors on the first day, camping overnight at Sittaford Tor before completing their remaining two tors on the Sunday to finish at lunchtime, well before the challenge closure time of 5pm.
